Bio:
With over two decades of experience as a licensed clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and certified hypnotherapist — licensed in Florida, New York and California— I bring a rich and deeply human career to my private practice. My work has taken me from the front lines of community mental health in NYC, where I provided therapy to clients navigating trauma, domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, and substance abuse, to senior leadership roles directing domestic violence programs, where I shaped culturally competent service delivery and forged community alliances in immigrant neighborhoods.
I was among the clinicians deployed to Ground Zero in the aftermath of September 11th, providing trauma counseling and debriefing to those facing acute loss and PTSD — an experience that profoundly deepened my commitment to showing up for people in their most vulnerable moments. As Project Director of the African American Task Force on Violence Against Women and Bias Crime Project Director at Safe Horizons, my work has always been rooted in justice and equity.
Today, in my private practice, I draw on this breadth of experience helping BIPOC, Q-BIPOC and other adults, build lives driven by their values, desires and needs, to heal and achieve their goals. I utilize integrative modalities such as cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, EMDR, somatic and hypnotherapeutic approaches. My approach is client centered and trauma informed as I provide care for adults experiencing- PTSD, bi-polar disorder, relationship issues, depression, anxiety and other challenges.
I offer therapy in an affirming space where you and your needs are seen and honored. I will help you to modify old patterns and beliefs, and reinforce emotional resilience as you create new ways of seeing yourself and your life. You will resolve painful experiences, acquire effective coping strategies and learn to navigate your life in ways that help you feel more peaceful, capable and grounded.
